Blog 6: The Saturday Boy - Summarry & Genre

Derek's mom made Derek go to Budgie's house because she had somewhere to go. Budgie and Derek had a great time. Budgie even wanted Derek to sleep over. At school Budgie denied them having fun and said he was just pretending. Derek vandalized the school with mean things about Budgie. 

The genre of The Saturday boy is Realistic Fiction. It is Realistic Fiction because the main character goes through many real life difficulties. For example his dad is in the Army and he doesn't get to see him often. The main character lives a normal life as a regular kid would.  The story is not real but I think it is something that it could be based of an actual persons life.

Blog 5: The Saturday Boy - Summarry & Conflict

Derek is an 11 year old boy. Derek for the most part lives a normal life. The biggest difference in Derek's life is that his dad is out at war. He doesn't get to see him often. In school Derek get bothered by this kid named Budgie. Derek is starting to like this new girl that started going to Derek's school. Also in school Derek feels like his teacher picks on him a lot.

The conflict in the story is with this boy named Budgie who keeps bothering Derek and Derek can't stop letting it get to him. Derek keeps getting in trouble because he does things when Budgie gets to him. For example in The Saturday Boy, Derek gets mad and throws a note a Budgie's face when Budgie keeps sending him annoying notes. This is a part where Derek gets in trouble because of Budgie.

Blog 4: One Came Home by Amy Timberlake - Summary and Genre

Once they arrive in Dog Hollow, Billy and Georgie look around and find a clue. The clue leads them them to the Garrow family farm. At the farm they find that a young girl named Darlene Garrow is also missing. She is about the age and has the same color hair as Agatha. She later figures out that this is the girl that was found in Agatha's dress. Agatha sent a letter home saying she was at the University of Wisconsin-Madison studying natural science.

The genre One Came Home is Historical Fiction. The book is set in the 1800's and is about how a girl won't accept that her sister is dead and goes out to look for her. These are all fictitious events but since they are set in the 1800's that makes it Historical Fiction. The book also has a little bit of mystery in it because of the whole not know if Agatha is really dead. There's a body but know way to prove it so the sister goes out to look for her.
